It’s been 5 weeks since the last blog. In that time Tim has gotten much stronger. His recovery has been somewhat unremarkable except for a few strange side effects from the chemo drugs. Besides the understandable fatigue and mild nausea he has been bothered by styes on his eyelids and strange allergic reactions to mosquito bites. Very minor annoyances in the world of stem cell recovery. Our isolation, which has been extremely difficult, was a total success as he hasn’t gotten a cold or any infection!

So we have good news and “other” news from the doctor’s appointment yesterday. The good news is that the transplant was deemed a success and his cancer numbers have gone down drastically. Thanks for all of your prayers!! The other news is that he will need to have another stem cell transplant very soon. We are following our doctor’s advice as every study shows that remission time doubles after a second transplant. It’s hard to argue with that statistic as the goal is remission! So we are nervously excited to begin the process again. We have an appointment with the transplant team on Monday and are projecting the next sct will be in 2 weeks. So another couple of weeks in Hackensack University Hospital and recuperation at home, but then 2022 will be looking good for Tim! So many things to be grateful for and so much to look forward to in the future - none more exciting than walking Katie down the aisle:)

Love,

The Feeneys
